” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always preservers.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Over the past few weeks the question “What is love?” has been weighing heavily on my heart. Is love just a three word phrase you whisper to your significant other before going to bed or is it something much bigger. To me love is much bigger. The Bible says ” For God so loved the world He gave His one and only son.” (John 3:16) God loves us so much that He sent his only son into the world to be brutally beaten and killed in order to save us from our sins. How awesome is it that Gods love for us is so much more than a three letter phrase. Gods love for us is abundant, alive, comforting, compassionate, fulfilling, mighty, extravagant, etc.
In order for us to show love towards someone we must first be so consumed in the Living Word of God that someone has to come to know God before they can come to know us. I read a book once that had an amazing illustration, imagine the arms of God outstretched and in one hand His holding you and in the other He is holding the love of your life. Gods arms stay outstretched until both man and woman are fully focused on Him, at that time as man and woman begin to draw closer to God they begin to draw closer to each other. When Gods timing is perfect you will meet the love of your life, the one. But until both of you are fully focused on God its not going to happen, so do not worry God is working on you and your love it just takes time. Love is patient, so sit back and continue to consume yourself in the word of God.
